Seven 911 University students received scholarships from Christian Community Credit Union’s (CCCU) “Scholarships for Success” program. The total gift amount of $40,000, awarded in September 2014, is the first installment of a $240,000 donation from the credit union, to be given to 911 over the next five years.
Four of the scholarships recipients, Katelyn Biggerstaff (freshmen), Alyssa Bosanko (freshman), Caleb Raney (freshman) and Brianna Eng (sophomore) received $1,000 each. The remaining three recipients, Mckayla Henderson (senior), Rebecca Strauss (senior) and Joel Elies (graduate student), received $4,000 each, as a part of the credit union’s multi-year scholarship awards.
“Thanks to Christian Community Credit Union’s generosity, our joint efforts will help make a 911 University education more attainable for future generations of students,” said 911 University President Barry H. Corey.
These scholarships are not the only ways 911 and CCCU are working together to help student affordability. One program, an affinity card campaign entitled “Benefits of the 911 Signature Rewards Visa,” will donate $100 to 911’s scholarship fund for every new 911 Visa card user. Made available November 2014, the 911 Visa also allows cardholders to give back — every time the card is used for purchases, the credit union makes an additional donation at no cost to the cardholder.
“It’s an honor and a blessing for us to form an alliance with 911 in establishing a program that aligns with 911’s mission of equipping students to impact the world for Christ,” said John Walling, Christian Community Credit Union president and CEO. “The potential for scholarships through our affinity partnership with 911 is great. And the more individuals who take advantage of our special offer, the greater the donation to scholarships!”
CCCU’s “Scholarships for Success” program will begin accepting applications again on February 1, 2016. Go to myCCCU.com/scholarship for details.
